Chinese chemical giant Wanhua announces they will build a 1.25 billion dollar chemical manufacturing complex in the St. James Parish town of Convent. The project will create 170 new direct jobs with an average salary of more than 80-thousand dollars. Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson led a Louisiana contingent to Wanhua’s headquarters last year and that trip has paid off…

Louisiana spent almost 35-thousand dollars on attorney fees to settle the sexual harassment suit against former Secretary of State Tom Schedler. That’s in addition to the 149-thousand dollars that went to the alleged victim in the out of court settlement. Schedler also personally paid 18-thousand dollars to the ex-employee.
