It was another deadly weekend on Louisiana roadways according to State Police. Eric Gill reports…:

State Police say they have arrested 197 people for suspicion of driving drunk statewide over just the past week. Historically, the week between Christmas and New Year’s is always the highest number of DWI arrests in Louisiana. Troopers say don’t risk it. A cab ride costs a lot less than fines and legal fees.

Shreveport Police have arrested another person in connection with an early Friday morning shooting that left an Arkansas man dead. 21-year-old Demarcus Gladney of Bossier City is charged with one count of illegal use of a weapon. Sgt. Bill Gooden says this deadly incident began when a group of teens were kicked out of a Christmas party at a hotel for fighting…:

Goodin says 52-year-old Robert Swenson died of a gunshot wound to the chest and it appears he was simply an innocent bystander. A 16-year-old was previously arrested for his involvement in the shooting.

Nowhere in the United States will it be more expensive to stay overnight this New Year’s Eve than in New Orleans. That’s according to TravelMag.com.
