LSU men’s basketball player Wayde Sims was fatally shot during the overnight hours near the Southern University campus. Baton Rouge Police Sergeant Don Coppola says says they are talking with witnesses and examining cell phone video of the shooting. Senator John Kennedy closed out yesterday’s questioning of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  In his opening remarks, he expressed his sympathy toward Kavanaugh, his family, Dr. Christine Ford, and her family for what they had all been through recently.

Senator Bill Cassidy weighed in on Twitter after Dr. Ford’s testimony, saying “there was still no corroborating evidence or witnesses.” And “The Senate should vote to #ConfirmKavanaugh without delay.”

Louisiana Democratic Party Chair Karen Carter Peterson says she believes Dr. Ford’s allegations, and says the two senator’s support for the judge sends the wrong message to assault survivors.
