20-year-old Wayde Sims, a forward on the LSU basketball team, was killed last night in a fatal shooting near the Southern University campus. Baton Rouge Police say the shooting happened at around 12:25 in the morning, across the street from Southern’s football stadium.

LSU and Ole Miss renew their rivalry on Saturday as the 5th ranked Tigers host Ole Miss. Tonight is the unveiling of the Billy Cannon statue outside Tiger Stadium. Cannon’s magical punt return for a touchdown in 1959 is the signature play of this series. Coach Ed Orgeron says its fitting that Cannon’s statue will be unveiled tonight and the 1958 national championship will be recognized on Saturday….

The Saints head up to New York to take on the Giants Sunday and the hope is for the Black and Gold is that the offense can keep clicking. Star wide receiver Michael Thomas is averaging almost 13 catches, 132 yards, and one touchdown through three games. Quarterback Drew Brees says Thomas isn’t just a great target, he’s a black hole that sucks in coverage, leaving great chances for others.
