Edwards says 200 Louisiana National Guardsmen will be positioned in southeast Louisiana today.

Pineville Police Chief Don Weatherford says an internal investigation is underway into the arrest of Sergeant Edric Smith, who allegedly punched an umpire at a softball game on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus. Smith’s daughter was playing in the game and Smith alleges the ump threatened his daughter, so he grabbed the official and punched him in the face repeatedly. Smith has been charged with battery of a recreation athletic official.
