LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says hosting a fundraiser for other party members is a great way for Congressman Steve Scalise to build good will for future attempts to climb the political ladder.

Louisiana is one of only five states without a statewide rideshare policy that would allow companies like Uber and Lyft to operate in any city. Rideshare legislation crashed and burned in the Senate after parliamentary maneuvers by Senate President John Alario. The Advocate reports Alario has a close friend, former legislator Francis Heitmeier, in the cab industry. UL Lafayette Poli Sci Professor Pearson Cross says those kinds of sweetheart deals to local businesses are common, and if you think this legislature would pass it, think again.

A Shreveport woman recently found out she was granted a divorce even though she was not seeking one, and now her husband, 27-year-old Demario Clark is in jail.  Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Cindy Chadwick says the news came out of the blue for the woman.Chadwick states Clark now has a new girlfriend, 50-year old Lisa McKinney, and she’s facing legal issues too for forgery.  Chadwick says the woman discovered documents showing divorce paperwork between her and her husband had been filed and granted and the woman’s husband has been arrested as a result of the bogus paperwork.

Louisiana State Police Detectives have arrested two Springhill men as part of two separate investigations for child pornography.  Both suspects, 44 year old Bo Skywalker Roberts and 54 year old Joe F. Palmer, Jr, have been booked into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Both investigations are on-going.
