Two adults and one juvenile are dead after a fire engulfed a trailer in Campti over the weekend. Investigators are still unsure exactly how the fire erupted and claimed the family’s lives. State Fire Marshal Spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says it’s not common to see fires that are this devastating.

With the latest nomination to the Supreme Court, the discussion of overturning Roe v. Wade has hit fever pitch. In Louisiana, a fifteen-week abortion ban comfortably passed in the regular session, being signed by Gov. John Bel Edwards.   During an appearance on Talk Louisiana, Democratic Senator John Milkovich says he’s excited about the possibility.

The 15 week abortion ban would go into effect pending a federal decision on a similar piece of legislation in Mississippi that’s making its way into the federal courts.

US Senator John Kennedy has filed a resolution that could lead to a congressional denouncement of the movement to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. Calls to Abolish ICE have mounted in recent months in the wake of the White House’s No Tolerance immigration policies, such as family separations. Kennedy says  ICE exists to stop illegal immigration and prevent criminals from entering the country.

Congresso member Adolfo, who says he came to Louisiana 14 years ago as a minor, and works construction in disaster recovery zones, says the agency has been targeting longtime residents and journalists like Manuel Durand, who he says has been detained in Louisiana. Adolfo, as translated by Taber, says ICE isn’t fighting terrorism, they’re committing it in Louisiana.
