State education officials announce that Louisiana has been awarded a federal grant of up to $32 million over four years to provide new and improved pre-k classes for over 10,000 children. Eric Gill has more…:

The State Fire Marshal’s office says a house fire this morning in Tangipahoa claimed the life of a 60-year-old man. They say it happened in the community of Roseland and firefighters responded around 4am to find flames coming out of the windows of the home. Woodrow Ford Jr was found deceased in his recliner. They believe the fire started in the kitchen but it remains under investigation.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden is joining the race for Lt. Governor of Louisiana. He says one of the things he plans to focus on during his campaign is promoting the small towns in the state…:

Holden says he has contacts all over Louisiana to help get his name out there and prove to voters he’s fit to serve as Lt. Governor.

Reports are out that LSU head coach Les Miles’ agent has been contacted by the University of Michigan about their football coach opening. Tiger Rag Editor Robert Stewart isn’t surprised by this and believes Miles would take that phone call…:
