Mainieri has yet to announce a starting pitcher for Friday’s game against the Aztecs.

LSU football has received a verbal commitment from Ponchatoula quarterback TJ Finley. He’s ranked as the 9th best pro-style quarterback for 2020 by 24-7 sports. Last season, Finley threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns and he was intercepted six times.

And Tigers football coach Ed Orgeron says Ohio State transfer quarterback Joe Burrow will have the opportunity to earn the starting spot just like everybody else and he was not guaranteed the starting role.

Good news for LSU basketball, point guard Tremont Waters announces he’s returning for his sophomore season after putting his name in for the 2018 NBA draft. The deadline to withdraw from the draft is today. Waters reportedly worked out for the Thunder and Hawks, while also visiting the Celtics. Waters said on his Instagram account that he feels its best for him to return to LSU and continue to improve as a player.

Conference USA has announced a significant change to its men’s basketball schedule in an effort to make sure the best teams in the league play each other late in the season. The proposal is to help bubble teams get in the NCAA Tournament, if they do not win the conference tournament. During the first seven weeks of the conference schedule, the 14 schoosl will play each other once and their travel partner twice. Then for the final four games, the top five teams in the league will play each other .

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey says there’s been ongoing dialog when it comes to repealing the SEC rule that prohibits alcohol sales inside stadiums. LSU has been seeking to change the rule for years.
