Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he will resign on May 8th as he faces a sexual harassment lawsuit from an employee who said she received unwanted advances, sexually charged emails and gifts. In his letter to the governor, Schedler says he leaves with a heavy heart and frustated by the tabloid approach to the allegation he faces.

A Senate committee has delayed discussion on a House approved bill that seeks to extend the contract the state has with Harrah’s New Orleans casino for another 30 years.
