State Police also say there was a fatal crash in Ascension Parish on Tuesday in which a man from Donaldsonville ignored a flag man in a construction zone and crashed into a parked dump truck. They say 42-year-old Kirt Canova was in a 2010 Nissan Altima and was not restrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is unknown at this time.

Both of these crashes remain under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Association reportedly held a vote on whether or not to endorse Graves and all agreed but not every member was present at the meeting.
