The police officer who shot and killed Alton Sterling during a struggle has appealed his firing. Attorney John McLindon filed the appeal to a local civil service board on behalf of Blane Salamoni who shot Sterling nearly two years ago. McLindon says Salamoni wants to clear his name…

Did you know that switchblade knives are illegal in Louisiana? The state legislature is taking steps to get that ban off the books. It’s been against the law to own or posses a switchblade knife, except for law enforcement officers, since the 1950s. A bill to repeal the ban was approved unanimously by the House today and heads to the Senate for more discussion.
