Many are remembering the remarkable life of Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson, who passed away at the age of 90 years old after battling flu complications the last three weeks. Governor John Bel Edwards credits Benson for bringing New Orleans back to life after Hurricane Katrina….

Shortly after Katrina, Benson hired Sean Payton as the Saints head coach and two months later the team inked future hall of famer Drew Brees which led to the franchise’s lone Super Bowl in the 2009 season. A couple years later, Benson purchased at that time the New Orleans Hornets. Mr. Benson’s wife, Gayle Benson, will run both professional franchises. But Mr. Benson’s disowned daughter and two grand children could possibly fight to gain control of both organizations.
