After back-to-back losses to the Bengals and 49ers the Saints will go after a much needed win on Monday against the Baltimore Ravens. You have to go back to 2005, to find the last time New Orleans lost three straight games at home.

Nicholls State named U-L Lafayette assistant coach Tim Rebowe as its new head football coach this morning. The Colonels just completed a winless season, as they lost 62-3 to Southeastern Louisiana last night.

The win for the Lions gives them at least a share of the Southland Crown. It’s the first back-to-back league titles for S-L-U since 1961.

McNeese State is hoping for an at-large berth in the FCS playoffs and they need a win Saturday at Lamar. Cowboys Coach Matt Viator says it would be a big game, even if a playoff berth wasn’t at stake…

The second round of the high school football playoffs are tonight…In Division one…top-seeded John Curtis will host Evangel Chrisitan. It’s the eighth consecutive season these two traditional powers have met in the postseason. In Four-A…21st seeded Peabody pulled off the upset over Minden last week, can they do it again tonight? They host 5th seeded Warren Easton. The LHSAA game of the Week is Karr versus North Desoto. Karr is seeking its fifth straight appearance in a championship game.

In college football action…Louisiana Tech can win the West division of Conference USA with a win over Old Dominion tomorrow. U-L Lafayette’s game against Appalachian State has been moved up to one o’ clock, because of the threat severe weather.

In college basketball…LSU battles Old Dominion at the Paradise Jam Classic in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. ULM, who is off to a 2-and-0 start, and will visit 8th ranked Florida. The Ragin Cajuns take on Auburn at 8 PM.

In the NBA, the Pelicans continue their road trip at Denver.
