For the first time since 1866, there will be a blue moon, which means a second full moon in a calendar month, a super moon and a total lunar eclipse simultaneously in the US. Unfortunately, Louisiana won’t see much of the eclipse as the moon will be setting just as it hits totality.  LSU Physics and Astronomy graduate student Tyler Ellis says you can still watch it on the internet…

It’s been a busy year at the port of New Orleans, setting a record in 2017 as 1.1 million cruise passengers moved through the Big Easy.  It’s the fourth consecutive year with more than a million passengers. Spokesman Donnell Jackson says it reinforces the port’s importance as a driver of the hospitality industry’s economic impact on the region.:

The mother of the woman who went overboard a Carnival cruise ship says she has yet to hear from her son-in-law.  KLFY TV says Marilyn Winfrey has not heard from Scott Brooks since her daughter Juwanna Brooks fell from the ship on January 21st.  Witnesses says the couple was observed fighting just before she went missing. The Mexican Navy has since called off the search for Juwanna.
