The Pelicans are playing their best basketball of the season heading into tonight’s game against Charlotte. New Orleans has won five of its last six, while the Hornets are seven games under the five hundred mark. Tip-off is at 6 PM.

The LHSAA Annual convention is underway in Baton Rouge. On Friday high school principals will vote on whether to end the playoff split in basketball, baseball and softball. North Vermilion Principal Tommy Byler says as a member of the executive committee, he made the proposal on behalf of basketball coaches around the stateā€¦

Byler also has a proposal to change how football schools are classifed. It’s an effort to reduce the number of teams who make the football playoffs with a losing record. Both items need a two-thirds vote to pass.

LSU has named one of its legendary players as Director of Player Development. Kevin Faulk, the school’s all-time leading rusher and three-time Super Bowl champion, will work with student-athletes on academic direction, social development and overall quality of life.

Maryland has named former LSU O-C Matt Canada as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Terrapins Head Coach DJ Durkin says Canada has a unique ability to utilize any and all types of personnel and still produce extremely explosive offenses.

Former Ouachita High School head football coach John Carr has been named as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at ULM. Carr spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Jones County Junior College.

Last night, the LSU men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Texas A-and-M 77-65. Tonight…Southeastern is at Sam Houston State, Northwestern State hosts UNO and Nicholls takes a four-game winning streak to Lamar.
