There are nearly 50 boil advisories issued in the state right now due to water pressure concerns from excessive use and bursting frozen pipes. Louisiana Department of Health Chief Engineer Amanda Laughlin (Loff-Lin) it’s important to follow the orders because when pressure is low, bacteria could potentially enter the distribution system:

State Police say an off-duty Alexandria police officer was killed in an accident in Grant Parish Wednesday. 53-year-old Sgt. Travis Lowe of Deville was southbound on Highway 167, when he lost control of his pickup truck and collided with a large tree. Master Trooper Scott Moreau says the frigid weather didn’t play a factor in the accident…:

One man died and another is in critical condition following a Wednesday night fire in Terrebonne Parish. The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 79 year old Ernest Lebouef died, and 43-year-old Chad LeBlanc was badly injured in the blaze.
