Louisiana State Police say a Coushatta woman who wasn’t buckled up died in a crash last night in Red River Parish. They say 44-year-old Salley Giddens was hit from behind when she was stopped waiting to turn into a private drive on Highway 71. Her car was thrown into the opposite lane of traffic and hit by a truck. LSP says Giddens wasn’t restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Farm Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare Institute have listed the Pilgrims Pride plant in Natchitoches as one of the nine worst chicken plants in the nation for animal cruelty. Farm Sanctuary director of policy, Bruce Friedrich (FREED-rick), says, for one, they found Pilgrims was allowing animals to freeze to death because of bad weather protocol. The plant said in a statement corrective actions are being taken but Friedrich says that doesn’t cut it…:
