John Schroder will be sworn in tonight as Louisiana’s next state treasurer after being chosen by a record low number of voters in the November 18th runoff. John Kennedy stepped down from the position to become a U.S. Senator. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Schroder will now to try to fill Kennedy’s role and must make sure he’s on top of his game.
Facebook plans to launch a new app for kids so they can message their friends with the approval of their parents. It’s called Messenger Kids and is aimed at children under 13 LSU Mass Communications Professor Lance Porter says this new app is a way to reduce the exposure to things kids are not ready to developmentally deal with.
Louisiana has one of the worst flu rates in the country. Emelie Gunn reports:
Singer John Mayer has cancelled his New Orleans show with Dead and Company, a Grateful Dead revival band. Tonight’s show was cancelled due after Mayer underwent an emergency appendectomy. There is no word on when a concert will be rescheduled. Ticket holders can either ask for a refund or use their tickets at the rescheduled show.
