Former Congressman William Jefferson, who was convicted nearly a decade ago on bribery charges, officially had his sentence reduced to time served today. The decision came as a joint recommendation by prosecutors and defense attorneys in the aftermath of a Supreme Court ruling that makes it more difficult to convict public officials of bribery.
