The National Flood Insurance Program, which provides flood insurance for thousands of Louisiana residents expires next Friday, December 8th.  The program is riddled with 24-billion-dollars in debt.  U.S. Senator John Kennedy says he is fine with renewing the program, if Legislators can find money to help with the huge debt load.  He says they need to lower private insurance company administration fees…

Closer to home, if you were affected by the August 2016 floods and feel you weren’t compsenated enough, you have until December 31st to submit a proof of loss.  State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says for help filing an appeal for more money from the flood insurance program, consumers can call 1-800-259-5300. Former New Orleans Congressman William Jefferson is expected to remain free today following his new sentencing hearing.  Due to recent Supreme Court rulings, Jefferson was freed after serving five years of a 13 year sentence on bribery charges.  Loyola University law professor Dane Cioilno says since the high court’s decision, the term “official act” is not as broad as it once was…
