US Senator John Kennedy says he will back President Donald Trump’s nomination for the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals, Kyle Duncan of Louisiana. Duncan appeared before the Senate Judiciary committee on Wednesday, Kennedy sits on the panel and his support means it’s likely Duncan will be confirmed.

Former New Orleans Congressman William Jefferson is expected to remain free today following his new sentencing hearing. Jefferson was released from prison last month after serving more than five years of a 13-year sentence. Loyola University law professor Dane Ciolino says federal prosecutors do not want to retry Jefferson after 7 counts of his conviction were tossed out:

A 30-year old band teacher in Jefferson Parish is accused of taking naked pictures and sending them via SnapChat to a 13-year-old student. Viridiana Ramos of Marrero, was arrested and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile.
