The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says a deputy involved shooting occurred in Sulphur. They say when responding to a scene, cops saw a man with a firearm and gave verbal commands to drop it which he refused. Deputies opened fire on the suspect and wounded him. He is identified as 45-year-old David Rozas of Sulphur.

There is an oral device that could help obese adults lose weight called the SmartByte system. It’s removable medical device used only when eating. Interim Director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge Dr. Donna Ryan says it helps people slow down when eating and hopes it will be approved here soon to help curb obesity…:
