In Thibodaux, police have arrested a man who fatally shot a woman and then attempted to burn the victim’s body. Authorities took 41-year-old Kai Williams into custody without incident. Houma-today-dot-com identifies the victim as 75-year-old, Grace Owens, who is a neighbor. Williams has been charged with second-degree murder. A motive has not been determined. Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue says it’s an unfortunate tragedy.

The 44th Bayou Classic is today at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, as Grambling State takes on Southern. Media Director for the Bayou Classic Angela Young says the Bayou Classic Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. and culminates at Fan Fest in Champion’s Square.
