A search is underway for a missing Louisiana woman who was last seen November 4th in a wooded area in Union County Arkansas. Officials say 32-year-old Amanda McPherson of Marion had been with a friend who reported the woman went missing after he went to get help with their pickup which was stuck in the mud. Anyone with information about McPherson is urged to contact authorities.

The coldest temperatures of the fall have arrived and that could result in an increase in home fires. The American Red Cross says heating sources are the second leading cause of home fire deaths, and fatal home fires increase in the winter months. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says if you use a space heater, make sure there’s a clear area of space around it…:

He says above all a working smoke alarm in your home could save your life should a fire occur.

Most of south and central Louisiana is under a freeze watch tonight through tomorrow morning according to the National Weather Service. They say low temperatures could drop below freezing along I-10 Thursday evening.
