State Police say the driver of a tractor in Vacherie has died after being run over by a train. They say 62-year-old Mathew Alexander III was towing a 34 foot sugar cane hopper in St. James Parish, when he drove around crossing arms with red flashing lights that were down. It was directly into the path of a Union Pacific train, Alexander was hit and died at the scene.
