Louisiana’s Senior U-S Senator Bill Cassidy says the Senate’s Tax Reform plan will grow the economy and cut personal income taxes.

17-year-old Donasty Cohen has been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of her 27-day-old baby boy. Rapides Parish District Attorney Phillip Terrell says both parents were 16-years-old when the crime happened in 2015 and the father is in jail awaiting trial. He says Cohen has showed little emotion.

Work Ready U is a program that aims to help grow Louisiana’s workforce by educating the nearly 600-thousand adults in the state who do not have a high school diploma. Recent graduate Erica Carboni says she finished the course in a month and a half and raised her learning level to an 11th grade equivalency. She now has bigger dreams on her horizon.

Two elderly people are dead after a logging truck hit their vehicle yesterday in Beauregard Parish. State Police Sgt. James Anderson says 86-year-old Elaine Picard and passenger 82-year-old William Picard were at a stop sign, when they pulled out onto Highway 112 east of DeRidder.
