The U.S. Coast Guard says two people were injured and dozens have evacuated a Shell platform off of Louisiana after an early morning fire. Petty Officer Lexie Preston says the fire is reported as extinguished:

She said Shell sent a helicopter to take the two injured crew members to a nearby hospital. No word on the extent of their injuries.

A 25-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly attacked a woman who tried to help him as he was lying in a ditch near Oak Grove. West Carroll Sheriff Jerry Philley says the victim was driving her children to school when she saw Christian Taylor Turnbow of Oak Grove and she called 911 before coming to the man’s aid…:

He says Turnbow is charged with attempted second degree murder and sexual battery.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Covington woman is under arrest amid allegations she lied about an NFL referee physically abusing her. Lt. Brennan Matherne says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks told cops in June that her live in boyfriend, 57-year-old Carl Johnson Sr. of Thibodaux, was hitting her. He says Brooks sent police audio recordings…:

He says no evidence of wrongdoing by Johnson was found and ultimately he was exonerated in the investigation.
