President Trump’s declaration against the opioid crisis today helps the state choose how they will use future federal funds to fight a problem that increased by 12 percent in 2015 alone. Governor Edwards has sued opioid manufactures and Trump has said he would like to do the same, calling it a national crisis. The declaration will help mobilize additional federal resources for states.
