Good news for Louisiana’s tourism industry. Nearly 25 percent of the new jobs in the state were related to tourism.  Over six-thousand new travel related jobs were created in the last 12 months, based on data from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. President Trump’s declaration against the opioid crisis today helps the state choose how they will use future federal funds to fight a problem that increased by 12 percent in 2015 alone.  Governor Edwards has sued opioid manufactures and Trump has said he would like to do the same, calling it a national crisis.  The declaration will help mobilize additional federal resources for states.
