Grambling State University is still reeling from a shooting early Wednesday which left a student and his friend dead.  A student was shot in a separate incident last month.  Grambling President Rick Gallot says Grambling is a gun free zone and residential life works hard to keep on campus housing as safe as possible.

A video series has been released by Governor John Bel Edwards to educate the public on the criminal justice reform legislation that goes into effect next Wednesday. 14-hundred non-violent offenders are set to be released. Jason Aldean will perform tonight at Champion’s Square in New Orleans at his first outside concert since the horrific Las Vegas shooting that left 58 people dead and 546 injured. General Manager of the Superdome and Champion’s Square Alan Freeman says they’ve had discussions with the security in Benson Tower and The Hyatt Regency, which both overlook Champion’s Square. He says if anyone is on top of keeping fans safe, it’s them.

Governor Edwards is in Washington, DC to attend a listening session at the White House which aims to address the nation’s opioid crisis. President Donald Trump is slated to deliver a major speech today on fighting the pain killer epidemic.

The Louisiana Lottery says last night’s Powerball jackpot was hit in Louisiana. The drawing is worth an estimated $191 million dollars.  The winning ticket with all 5 winning numbers was sold in Eunice.
