What was to be a celebration with homecoming at Grambling State University has turned tragic after a student and his friend were shot dead early this morning.   The shooter remains at large. The schools president Richard Gallot released a letter saying he has been in contact with the governor’s office and other law enforcement agencies through the day to help keep the community and campus safe.  A student led prayer vigil will be held at 5 this afternoon.

A lawsuit has been filed by Lambda Legal on behalf of William “Liam” Pierce after a job offer was allegedly rescinded in 2012 by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office after a medical exam revealed Pierce was HIV positive.  A lawsuit was recently filed.  Lambda’s Scott Schoettes says legal red tape has held up the case…

Tulane University has received a five-year 1.8-million-dollar grant to study a possible link between traumatic stress and alcohol abuse.  Researcher Jeff Tasker says they want to provide insight on what makes a person more likely to drink more after being exposed to a traumatic stress event.
