What was to be a celebration with homecoming at Grambling State University has turned tragic after a student and his friend were shot dead early this morning.   The shooter remains at large.  The incident occurred in a courtyard on campus with the victims shot outside of a dorm room just after midnight. Legendary New Orleans singer, songwriter, and pianist Fats Domino passed away today at the age of 89. Domino was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and was a great influence for many Louisiana performers. Celebrity reactions are pouring in on Twitter, including from fellow Crescent City native and singer, Harry Connick Jr. Connick said Domino helped pave the way for New Orleans piano players; and that he’d see him on top of that blueberry hill in the sky.

An HIV positive man who had a job offer rescinded by the Iberia Parish Sherriff’s Office is now suing them for discrimination.  Michelle Southern has more.

Tulane University has received a five-year 1.8-million-dollar grant to study a possible link between traumatic stress and alcohol abuse.  Researcher Jeff Tasker says humans with post-traumatic stress disorder are more likely to abuse alcohol than the general population and this project will provide insight into why.
