Tropical Depression number 16 is approaching the coast of Nicaragua and forecasters still believe this storm will develop into a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Visitation is today at Our Savior’s Church for fallen Lafayette Police Officer Michael Middlebrook who was killed during an exchange of gunfire at a convenience store. Police Chief Toby Aguillard says Middlebrook was born in Thibodeaux and had a stellar nine year career with Lafayette PD.
