The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression number 16 has formed in the southwestern Caribbean Sea and it’s expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend as a tropical storm and eventually strengthen into a hurricane, before making landfall anywhere from the Mississippi-Alabama line to Tampa, Florida.

Police records indicate the LSU fratnerity pledge who died last month may have consumed an exessive amount of alcohol as a result of a drinking game. Jeff Palermo has the story…

Louisiana is one of 11 states to receive a 55-million dollar grant that will go towards helping struggling students improve their reading and writing skills. State Department of Education spokesperson Sydni Dunn says it’s the third consecutive time Louisiana has landed this award….
