Former Marksville marshal Norris Greenhouse Jr. is slated to return to court today to be formally sentenced for his involvement in the shooting death of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis. Greenhouse pleaded guilty Friday in Avoyelles Parish to negligent homicide and malfeasance in office to avoid trial. According to the deal, he will be sentenced to 5 years on the negligent homicide charge and 2.5 years for malfeasance to run consecutively.

Louisiana is set to receive 55-million dollars in federal grant money to improve the reading and writing skills of struggling students. State department of education spokesperson Sydni Dunn says the state will get 18.5 million dollars each year for the next three years and they already know how the money will be allocated…:

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced it’s sending the Norwegian Breakaway to sail from New Orleans beginning November 2018. Port of New Orleans spokesperson Donnell Jackson says this ship is over 1,000 feet and will hold about 4,000 passengers..:
