9:30 Newscast September 30

The search for the missing LSU student turned up a body that authorities think is 21 year old Michael Nickelotte Junior. The body was discovered by hunters off of Ben Hur road, just south of the campus. Investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. DNA tests will be done for a positive ID of the remains. Michael Nickelotte Junior had last been seen on September 18th at a campus apartment complex.

A rally to support the Caddo Confederate monument in front of the parish courthouse is scheduled for today in Shreveport. Emelie Gunn has the story.

Today is the first day of early voting allowing registered voters to cast their ballots for the upcoming October 14th election. New Orleans has a race for mayor, while south Louisiana voters can vote for candidates for the Public Service Commission. Statewide ballots have three constitutional amendments listed and voters can select from candidates for State Treasurer. Voters can take advantage of early voting until October 7th.

LSU faces Troy for homecoming tonight. Troy lost their first game of the season to Boise State, but since then, the Trojans have won three games in a row. Tiger Rag Associate Editor, James Moran says Troy is not a team you can easily over look.
