St. Bernard Parish authorities say a 56-year-old man attacked his ex-wife with an ax as she left her home for work this morning, killing her. 48-year-old Kimberly Owens suffered fatal injuries as her mother watched from the home. The sheriff says Kimberly Owens had a restraining order against Mark Owens, who turned himself in.

Shreveport police detectives are trying to determine who fatally stabbed an 82-year-old woman who lived alone. Kathleen Cates was pronounced dead at the scene, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Corporal Marcus Hines says whoever did this, deserves to be punished to the fullest extent of the law….

Neighbors say a man and woman performed yard work at the home before she was killed. They are considered persons of interest.

The state has started a donation drive to help Hurricane Maria victims in Puerto Rico. Governor John Bel Edwards says Puerto Rican officials say the island is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis, if help does not arrive. Mike Steele, with the governor’s office of homeland security and emergency preparedness, says residents are encouraged to donate these items
