The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office says Mark Owens murdered his ex wife, Kimberly Owens this morning with an ax in her front yard. Chief Deputy John Doran says two 911 calls came in — one from a neighbor, and the other from the victim’s mother who was also there…:

Mark Owens has turned himself in and will be charged with murder.
A handful of Saints players did not stand during national anthem before the team’s last game and the Tom Benson organization says the athletes have a right to express their feelings. But Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says a demonstration like this is completely disrespectful to the country. He says football players have a following far greater than most people.

Governor John Bel Edwards weighs in on the New Orleans Saints national anthem protests that has stirred public controversy. He commented on what impact the protests has on the subsidies that the state provides to the NFL Franchise.

Lake Charles Police have charged a former Angola prison inmate with the fatal shooting of a 10-year-old child and his 17 year old brother who was also injured in the shooting incident. Authorities arrested 50-year-old Felton Thompson in New Orleans overnight. He served 24 years in Angola for armed robbery. A motive for last weekend’s shooting is not known.
