Governor John Bel Edwards has asked university officials across the state to review their hazing policies, plus alcohol and drug abuse policies. State Police are investigating a fiery crash in St. Landry parish on Thursday night that claimed the lives of two people. Master Trooper Brooks (DAH-VEED) David says officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver did not stop and in fleeing the police failed to negotiate a curve on US highway 167 by Belle Ridge Road.

A New Orleans candidate for mayor has been charged with lewd conduct in Santa Monica, California, according to multiple reports. Businessman and mayoral candidate Frank Scurlock said he has no idea what he is being charged with. Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White says Scurlock was allegedly caught masturbating by an Uber driver taking him to a hotel in West Hollywood on Feb. 10. Scurlock’s arraignment is set for October 16th with is just two days after the mayoral primary.
