Saints long snapper Jon Dorenbos will have open heart surgery after doctors discovered he had an aortic (A-or-tic) aneurysm, which can lead to death. Dorenbos has been placed on the non-football injury list and he’ll miss the rest of the season. New Orleans season opener is Monday night against Minnesota and the team had several players work out today to fill the position.

LSU defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence will not play tomorrow against UT Chattanooga. The redshirt freshman from Monroe had a sack and four tackles against BYU last week. Glen Logan will start for the injured Lawrence and fifth-year senior Frank Herron will also miss tomorrow’s game for undisclosed reasons.

ULM gets an unexpected Saturday off. The Warhawks game at Florida State has been cancelled, because of Hurricane Irma. ULM will now get ready for its home opener against Southern Miss on September 16th.

A big game is set to take place in Ruston as Louisiana Tech will host Mississippi State. Both teams won their season openers. State shutout Charleston Southern 49-0. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz is very impressed with how State won its season opener…
