Heavy rain from Harvey has moved into southwest Loisiana. Cameron and Vermilion Parish are under a tornado watch until 2 AM on Saturday. A voluntary evacuation has been ordered for low lying areas below Highway 14 in Vermilion Parish. A mandatory evacuation is in effect for southern Cameron Parish.

Forecasters are predicting southwest Louisiana will see 15 to 20 inches of rain over the next several days from Hurricane Harvey, which is expected to stall along the Louisiana coast. That’s not good news for the state’s rice crop. LSU AgCenter Rice Specialist Doctor Dustin Harrell says this year’s crop was already subpar and extreme flooding could cause additional problems with the new crop…

Louisiana has a new animal rescue vehicle which can house up to 100 pets. The 50-foot-long emergency rescue vehicle was made possible as a result of a donation from the Walmart Foundation and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. President of American Humane, Robin Ganzert, says it can even house rescue responders…
