Governor John Bel Edwards and state Congressional delegation members toured Denham Springs with HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson yesterday a year after the historic flooding. Carson says he’s impressed with the progress Louisiana has made since August.

The state Department of Transportation says the installation of a cable barrier is set to begin this week along I-49 in Caddo and DeSoto Parishes. DOTD Spokesperson Erin Buchanan says this project is part of a larger goal to install 600 miles of cable barries throughout the state. She says safety is the driving cause of the projects.

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer to meet with their favorite LSU players and coaches as the annual Fan Day has been moved to the spring in lieu of construction. Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette says the work that’s being done on campus won’t affect the season and the purple and gold nation are in for some nice surprises.
