Claiborne Parish authorities say a prisoner abducted and fatally stabbed the assistant wardens stepdaughter after walking away from a work assignment on Thursday. Sheriff Ken Bailey says the inmate’s life eventually ended during a standoff on prison property….

The prisoner, 39-year-old Deltra Henderson, was serving time for different offenses including aggravated burglarly. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Amanda Carney.

A federal appeals court has ruled a Louisiana inmate can keep his dreadlocks as part of his faith. Christopher Ware, who is serving a 40-year sentence for sexual battery, took a vow not to cut his hair to adhere to the Rastafari religion. A three-judge appellate panel said the department of corrections policies, as applied to Ware, violate federal law.

SWEPCO officials say customers will see savings from a windfarm under construction in Oklahoma. Spokesperson Scott McCloud says they will use energy generated from that windmill and it will save their customers more than $5 billion over 25 years.
