The Saints moved into first place in the NFC South by snapping their seven-game road regular season losing streak by beating the Carolina Panthers 28-10 last night. Quarterback Drew Brees on finally getting a win on the road…

Brees threw for 297 yards. His lone touchdown pass went to Jimmy Graham, who caught seven passes for 83 yards. Running back Mark Ingram rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first Saints running back to have back-to-back 100-yard games since Deuce MCallister in 2006.

In high school football last night…Byrd beat Southwood 34-12, Natchitcohes Central over Pineville 35-20, Parkway knocked off Haughton 57-28 and Thibodaux blanked South LaFourche 35-0.

The Ragin Cajuns will look to stay undefeated in Sun Belt play when they host South Alabama on Saturday. The Jaguars beat U-L Lafayette 30 to 8 last season. But Coach Mark Hudspeth’s team enters this Saturday’s game on a roll as they’ve won three in a row….

It’s also homecoming in Ruston and Thiboaux. The Bulldogs will face Western Kentucky, while the Colonels seek their first win of the year against Incarnate Word.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team is receiving votes in the preseason A-P Top 25 poll. When you count up the Bulldogs votes, they are ranked 37th. LSU is also receiving votes and they are ranked 38th.
