A win for the Saints tonight against Carolina and they move into first place in the NFC South. The Panthers are winless in their last three games, but they should get a boost with the return of running back DeAngelo Williams, who has missed the last six games because of injuries. Three players have been ruled out for the Saints tonight. Running back Pierre Thomas, linebacker David Hawthorne and fullback Austin Johnson. This is the second straight game Thomas will miss because of a shoulder injury, while Hawthorne hurt his hand in the Green Bay win.

Former LSU Tiger Jarvis Landry has been named the A-F-C Special Teams Player of the Month. Landry leads the NFL with a 31-yard kickoff return average.

Tonight in the Sun Belt Conference, Georgia Southern hosts Troy. Georgia Southern and the Ragin Cajuns are both undefeated in league play and tied for first in the Sun Belt. U-L Lafayette hosts South Alabama this Saturday. The Jaguars are 4-and-1 in the Sun Belt this year and last season they beat the Cajuns 30 to 8.

Louisiana Tech will also look to stay undefeated in league action this Saturday as they host Western Kentucky. The Bulldogs are 4-and-0 in Conference USA, while the Hilltoppers are 1-and-3.

Over in the Southland Conference…Northwestern State hosts McNeese State. The Cowboys are 3-and-1 in league play and with a win they move into a first place tie with Southeastern Louisiana, who is off this weekend. Nicholls State will host Incarnate Word.

In the SWAC, after taking last weekend off, Grambling State will visit Texas Southern. Both teams are 5-and-3 on the season. Southern will host Alabama State. The Jaguars are 4-and-1 in the SWAC, a game behind Grambling in the west division standings.
