The U.S. Geological Survey has found the long term rate of Louisiana wetland loss is slowing. Research Geographer Brady Couvillion says analysis finds rates of land area loss have continued to decrease since the 1970s. He says one possible reason for this is the lack of major hurricane activity over the past 8 years…:

But he says this doesn’t mean that coastal wetland loss has ceased to be a serious issue.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says the 1-year-old child who died in Walker after being run over in his own driveway is identified as Tavein Parker. Family members indicated a friend driving a truck was pulling away and didn’t see the child when backing out. Officials stated they are questioning the driver of the truck and everyone else who was at the home about the incident.
