A new Oceana study shows a misrepresentation of shrimp across the United States. The report used DNA testing to examine 143 shrimp products and found that 30-percent were falsely labeled in 111 grocery stores and restaurants. The most common substitution was farmed whiteleg shrimp being sold as “wild” and “Gulf” shrimp. The study also found that 40-percent of shrimp samples were species not known to be sold in the United States.

The state has banned another compound that is used in synthetic marijuana. The Department of Health and Hospitals says the designer drug, sold under the names “Mojo” and “Spice,” has been blamed for the hospitalization of more than 125 residents in the Baton Rouge area since October 3rd.
