Following LSU’s incredible 3-1 win yesterday against Oregon State in the College World Series, Coach Paul Maineri praised the freshman on his team. Josh Smith singled home a run early, and mashed a solo home run to provide insurance late. Zach Watson continued his red-hot run in Omaha with three hits and drew a walk. Maineri says the young guys did well:

Congressman Steve Scalise has been moved out of ICU at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is still listed in fair condition.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 19-year-old from Thibodaux is under arrest for allegedly fatally shooting someone arguing with his sister at a house party in Gonzales. They say the victim, 25-year-old Jerrod Brown, died of several gunshot wounds. Cops say they learned Brown was in a verbal altercation with a female when the suspect, Joshua Harris, brandished two weapons and began firing at the victim. Harris faces many charges including second-degree murder.
