Forecasters warn residents to be alert as Tropical Storm Cindy has made landfall in Cameron Parish. Stephen Carboni with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles says Cindy still carries the risk of life-threatening flash flooding…:

Alek Krautman with the National Weather Service in New Orleans says the heaviest rains will be on the eastern side of the storm. He says some areas could get a total of 12 inches or more..:

As of the 4am update from the National Hurricane Center, Cindy’s maximum sustained winds were down to 40 mph. The storm is expected to lose strength as the day goes on. A tornado watch is in effect for most of the southeastern part of the state.

2016 flood victims are not completing the survey to get federal assistance as quickly as state officials had hoped. Governor John Bel Edwards says only 26,000 people have completed the form so far. He advises people to do so quickly because the homeowner assistance program is in full swing..:

Edwards says the first step to getting into the homeowner assistance program is completing the survey at restore.la.gov.

In the College World Series, LSU picked up a dominating 7-4 victory over Florida State last night in an elimination game. By beating The Noles, LSU advanced to face No. 1-seed Oregon State Friday.
