An area of low pressure is set to enter the Gulf of Mexico and is likely to turn into a Tropical Storm or Depression in the next 48 hours. That’s according to State Climatologist Barry Keim. But he adds that there is good news with this system…:

He says we can definitely plan for a lot of rain starting tomorrow and continuing all day Wednesday into Thursday.

The Supreme Court struck down a law in North Carolina which bans sex offenders from using social media, a similar mandate Louisiana has. Justices say taking Twitter, Facebook and other popular accounts away all together would prevent the user from engaging in the legitimate exercise of First Amendment rights. The law in Louisiana specifically applies to people convicted of sex crimes with children. If convicted, the individual could be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail and to pay up to a $10,000 fine.

Governor John Bel Edwards says he may not issue the call for a special session where lawmakers could address a looming fiscal cliff in 2018. Edwards says House Republicans did not support any of the recommendations from the tax reform task force in the regular session, nor did they propose a plan of their own…:

If the call is issued, Edwards says he will look to House leadership to assure him that lawmakers have a plan they will support.
